Dwight Yoakam

Going to see Dwight Yoakam tonight at the Soaring Eagle Casino. I hope he plays his version of IWYTWM. It's my favorite cover of this song, unless you include Spongebob's Quiero Que Me Quieras.

Dwight was fabulous, overall! Although he did not play IWYTWM, he did play my other favorite cover - Ring of Fire - as well as some of my favorites - Little Ways, Guitars Cadillacs, Fast as You, etc. A bunch of new tunes. No ballads, though. I was disappointed that there was no fiddle, too. Many of his songs rely heavily on the fiddle and it felt a bit empty without it.......

He played two hours straight and was very personable.

This is the venue (Soaring Eagle Casino) that CT is playing Dec. 28 (while I am in another hemisphere). Warning: Some of the "front row" seats are WAYYYYYY in a corner that doesn't even allow people there to see the stage. It is an awkward wide short room.

RE: Dwight Yoakam
I saw Dwight at the Riverside Theater in Milwaukee back in April. The only other time I saw him was at the Wisconsin State Fair.....and that had to be about, gosh, maybe 10 years ago....and that's a complete guess. I have to say that I enjoyed him at the fair much more than I did at the Riverside.

To me, he just wasn't his "usual self" in April. I'm sure age has a lot to do with it. Don't get me wrong, he still is the "Honky Tonk King", but just didn't do it for me as much as he did when I saw him at the fair.

Still, I'm glad I went.....

He turns 56 on Wednesday. He's four years younger than Robin. Don't think we can blame *age* for Dwight's shortcomings!

Possibly......but keep in mind that everyone ages differently. While some people are very active in their middle years, some people can hardly get out of bed!
