RE: Cheap Trick Opening for Aerosmith Summer Tour
by now most peeps have heard kiss/motley crue summer tour together.
the tour is called "the tour 2012"
i think it would be cool if the aero/trick tour is called
"the good music tour 2012"

(disclaimer-i like some mot and early k jizz)
why in the f$ck has cheap trick not played a headlining show
in my city of san francisco since 2003?

I'm not really excited about this. 1.A shortened set list from CT. 2. If your not a member of aeroforce one you don't have access to premium over priced seats. 3. Didn't aerosmith cancel most of the shows the last two times they paired up?

I'm not a big aero fan, so I paid 80 bux to see a short list 150 yards away from CT then leave last time in Peoria. worth it, though. don't have time / money for road trips, and downstate illinois rarely sees them. Still haven't replaced the rained out show with blondie in springfield 2 years ago.

FROM what I heard, CT is the 2nd ACT...which if true, gets them a longer set

Not to mention that 'Idol' will give Aerosmith's management and Live Nation an excuse to jack up the ticket prices. I'll wait 'til they're fire selling lawn seats the week before the show.

I saw Cheap Trick with Journey and then with Def Leppard/Poison in Albuquerque a few years back, and I am much happier with this pairing. I have never seen Aerosmith and would love to see them, and Cheap Trick, of course!

Those Aerosmith fans are just scared CT are gonna make their boys look bad!!! Smile

Well after spending the last 15 minutes reading through the Aeroforce message board I have come to the conclusion that Aerosmith fans are not the brightest. Confused

RE: Cheap Trick Opening for Aerosmith Summer Tour
I'm happy for CT to be opening or 2nd act etc for Aerosmith because it's a major national tour with lots of press and they'll have all the great amenities that go along with that deal. Playing fairs/casinos/small clubs etc is great for us hardcore fans but sucks for them. The backstage areas are small, dressing rooms suck etc. I play in a band and have seen both sides of the fence and its a whole lot nicer playing the Sprint Center/Staples Arena type venues. And, they get done earlier which is huge plus. To be done playing your set by 9:45PM, get paid well and have a nice area to retire afterwards is sweet. (even more so when you're in your 50's/60's)

That being said, I'll wait and see how they are being featured on this tour. If they're only being given a 40 minute "greatest hits" type slot, I'll likely pass as I've been there, done that many times before and won't pay for Steven Tylers inflated ego.
