I’m Robin Zander of Cheap Trick. The First Tee Clearwater and I would like to announce our celebrity fundrasising events for the third annual “Rockin’ the First Tee.” These events will be held on Friday evening, Nov. 21 & Saturday, Nov. 22nd, 2008.
The First Tee of Clearwater’s “Rockin’ The First Tee” is an annual fundraising event that is an effort to help underprivileged children living in the Clearwater, FL area. Having a chance at an education through the friendship of The First Tee of Clearwater is, for many of the children, their last chance for a good education and a better quality of life. The Mission of The First Tee is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.
Friday evening will feature a 40th anniversary tribute concert presented by two of our sponsors, Ruth Eckerd Hall and Bill Edwards. Cheap Trick, accompanied by The Florida Rock Symphony and special guests, will perform the Beatles’ landmark Sgt. Pepper album in its entirety at Ruth Eckerd Hall (located in Clearwater FL). After the show, there is a VIP jam session with Robin Zander and Friends. Past participants have included Brian Johnson (from AC/DC), members of REO Speedwagon, Blue Oyster Cult, The Eagles and many more. In addition, there will also be a silent auction, food and a fabulous live auction.
A Celebrity Golf Tournament will take place on Saturday the 22nd at Chi Chi Rodriguez’s golf course in Clearwater, FL. This is a chance to come and hit a few rounds with your favorite celebrities for a great cause.
We are in need of corporate sponsors. Join corporations such as Wal-Mart, Progress Energy, Raymond James and IBM as a Tournament Sponsor to take advantage of the multitude of positive public relations, networking, promotional and media possibilities. Depending on your sponsor level you will, of course, get a great deal of advertising along with tickets to the shows and other perks. If for some reason you cannot attend, please make a donation by giving something to the auction. Items such as discounts on store items, product donations or invitations to special events are always appreciated. Please join us! It’s a good thing to do and more fun than you can shake a “stick” at.
